REI put its own Peak two-layer nylon to work as the waterproof and breathable laminate in this snow jacket. Body-mapped insulation puts 80 g of synthetic around the core and 60 g of synthetic in the sleeves.

Other downhill-friendly touches include a helmet-compatible hood, a snap-away powder skirt, internal media ports, and plenty of pockets — including dedicated goggle and ski pass stashers.

The North Face used recycled polyester to make these four-way stretch hand warmers. Made with a women’s-specific fit, these gloves are articulated and made with a soft-shell fabric on the palms that allows for using touchscreen devices with any finger. The palms also use silicone grippers.

Consider this a seasonal fleece, one that you can enjoy out in the wild and closer to home.

REI updated this version for a closer fit so you can still layer over it. The shoulder seams are placed forward to prevent rubbing from pack straps. And there are secure hand pockets, as well as elastic cuffs for keeping out drafts.

This hip-length jacket provides water- and windproof coverage when the rain comes. The weather protection comes from a breathable, 2.5-layer membrane, and there are pit zips to quickly dump body heat while still staying dry.

This long-sleeve T-shirt provides warmth on cold-start runs and hikes and sun protection come midday. Made from two-way stretch polyester, it should move with you on the go as well as wick sweat and dry fast.
